Sorry!

Sorry for the lack of updates but we're in the middle of moving into our new house so there hasn't been much time for knitting or crafts. Once we get settled and organized I'll be adding new pretties to my shop! Thanks to those who keep checking my etsy shop!

Praying for Stellan

You may have noticed that a few of my items have the label "Praying for Stellan" at the end of them. If you haven't heard of Stellan, you can read his story here. Some of the proceeds from those particular items will be donated to Stellan's family to help with medical expenses.

Anyway, check out the shop, there is a darling new bonnet in white! I'm working on a few custom dolls right now so there hasn't been much time for knitting. We've also just bought our first home (yeah!) so that is also keeping us busy. And life in general with a 17 month old is crazy enough:) But I do have a few fun knitting projects half way done, so be checking the shop later this weekend for new pretties!

Here's the sweet 17 month old exploring the river

Meet the Emily Doll!

I've decided to just call this style of doll the Emily Doll. They'll all be similar size and style with just different hair, eye-color, dress and knee socks. These are my favorite doll yet! They have long legs with the cutest socks instead of tights. I've added a little rice to their stuffing and it makes them just the right weight. I'll be working on a few more but I just had to put the first one in the shop now!

Silk Bonnet

Oh you can't imagine how wonderful this silk bonnet feels! Its pearly and slightly shiny. It is the softest thing and such a pretty mix of colors. I got the yarn from a fellow etsian in Ireland! She hand paints her yarn. She called this yarn "mirror" so I'm calling the bonnet "reflections". And it really does remind me of a mirror. Its absolutely gorgeous and I just had to make it into a bonnet.
Go check it out in my etsy shop!

New Dollies

These sweeties and 7 others just as sweet were sent away to go to a show! But be checking the shop because I'm sure some dolls just like these will be showing up soon! They have a little bit longer legs than my original doll. And I'm also using wool felt now which is SO much better. I'm trying to keep costs down for people, so the price will remain the same for now.

Peek-a-Boo

Lots of legs and arms are being worked on these days! Most are actually headed to a craft show but some will make their way to my etsy shop so be looking! I'm just loving these large polk-a-dot knee highs! I'm trying out these dolls with longer legs. So far I'm pleased with the look.

Oooo, I just got some wool felt in the mail today and I can't wait to make them into hair for the dollies. They are way more fun colors than what local craft stores carry.

A new addition

Meet Henry! He's soon to be added to the shop but I wanted to introduce you to him now. He's a tall lanky boy with a bit of a belly. He's got soft, kind eyes and cheeks that blush easily. He's sure to win your heart!

Isn't he cute?! Doesn't he look like he's standing on the street corner waiting for a pretty young girl to walk by:) Maybe Betsy or Emma!

Friday 6 March 2009

Welcome!

Let's welcome Betsy to the Spring bunch! Another dollie has been added to my shop so go take a look! And stay tuned because some more Spring pretties are on there way.

So Sweet

Not only are these new booties in a raspberry color yarn so sweet but they're also organic! They are made from a 100% organic wool. I like the idea of only putting my baby in cottons or wools. It just doesn't seem healthy for the skin to be wearing synthetic things, especially hats that are right on the skin. That's why you won't find acrylic or other synthetic fibers on my etsy shop.
So here's a look at the new raspberry booties with the little pink flower buttons. Oh so precious! This set of booties are for 3-6 months. Let me know if anyone needs a different size!

And the Green Grass Grew All Around!

I've finally got these sweet little booties in my etsy shop! They're perfect for boy or girl and I make them is sizes
Newborn - 3 months
3-6 months
6-9 months

I love this green color (well, you may as well know that green IS my favorite color) but I just love bold colors for babies because so often all you can find are pastels for them. For me it was so refreshing to find Luli things that were bright and not just pale pink.

So please check these out and stay tuned because some crazy raspberry booties are on there way to the shop soon!

The Luli Hat

Finally pictures of Luli IN "the Luli Hat"! These days it's impossible to get her to look at the camera. She is busy, busy, busy. She's looking out the window in the second picture saying "Babi!" That's how they say Daddy in Albanian.
So go visit my etsy shop to see this new hat! It is for a 2 year old, as you can tell, it's rather large on Luli and she is only 16 months.

Holy Moly!

wow, not only has advertising gotten tons of people looking at my etsy shop, but this morning one of my dolls was featured on the front page of Etsy! wow! I had one doll jump from 30 views to 530 in a matter of minutes! Now that is amazing. It seems like people like my dolls, or at least I hope they do. It's so fun (but a little scary) to be showing so many people my art work. I was always shy in college (I was an art major) showing my work and I hated critique time. I never had anything intelligent and artsy to say about my work, you know, why I did it this way, what does this represent, etc. I've always enjoyed art that just is what it is. I especially like art forms that have a purpose, like these dolls and the hats. You can play with them or use them for a purpose! But they can be lovely and artsy on their own too.
anyway, I'm curious if anyone is looking at this blog:) I know its new and maybe people are shy to comment, but if you are enjoying seeing what I'm up to, please leave a comment and just say "hi" or what you think about my stuff.

also, stay tuned because some wonderful little things are coming soon to make a baby's toesies so much cuter and warmer!

Hope

This week I'm doing a little advertising here
So I'm hoping that lots of people come to look at my etsy shop
It's hard starting out with a business and not knowing how much to put into it at first. I love making these dolls and hats and could probably do it over and over again without getting sales. But that's just not financially possible right now:) Hopefully advertising will help get my name out there!
Check out the new doll on my shop! Emma is quiet and sweet with curious eyes that almost look sad, but her cute little smile tells us she's as happy as can be. She's just waiting for someone special to take her home!

A new Spring line of dolls are coming soon! Here's a little peek at these sweet littles.

The Luli Hat

This hat was named after my daughter. It looks adorable on her and probably will on just about any baby. I'll try to get a picture of Luli with it on soon.

I've got so many different ideas and only 2 hands and so many hours in the day, but hopefully I can see all my ideas come to life soon. Stay tuned for some new hats coming to my Etsy shop!

A Springtime Baby Bonnet

I'm excited to show you this bonnet. I learned this style from my mother-in-law, who is a fabulous knitter from Albania! Before my daughter was born, my mother-in-law taught me how to knit and we made so many bonnets.
These are great for babies because they keep their ears covered. I love the sweet scalloped edge along the face and also the trim on the top and sides. It just adds to it's soft and delicate feel. This bonnet is made from oh-so-soft cotton. I love it, it feels so good to the skin.
If you like it, just go here to check it out.
